Resilience is an area I need to work on. As a queer person of color, aspects of life can feel isolating, and sometimes I end up procrastinating on assignments that I'm actually very passionate about, because they are weighty. I have found myself in tears several times this quarter as a reaction to some of the readings. Ignorance and bliss have definitely fallen away even more as I've explored the strands this quarter, and I'm in need of being able to take joy in the fact that I can now work towards changing the problematic issues I see and experience.
I have three practices to engage in this summer to foster my resilience: 1) Use my Headspace meditation app more regularly. 2) Journal several times a week. 3) Use meditation and journal entries to have more intentional and productive sessions with my therapist.
Boosting my resilience is important as an educator, because a dysregulated adult cannot assist students in regulating themselves.
